Manager, Operations Planning & Solutions
The Manager, Operations Planning and Solutions is responsible for providing operational and regulatory support to network airports to create efficiencies, achieve performance and maximize value. Bringing technical expertise in airport operations, and familiarity with on-the-ground application of airport regulations, this role is focused on collaborating with network airports to optimize safety, security and regulatory compliance. This position leads the network peer review program, and oversees the monitoring of corrective action plans to close. The Manager, Operations Planning and Solutions also participates in business development activities, providing expert input and design review to new airport projects and prospective investments, and participating in airport transition, post-acquisition and integration activities.
Based in the corporate office in Vancouver, BC, the Manager, Operations Planning and Solutions plays a vital role in ensuring delivery of Vantage’s contractual obligations and in proactively identifying and mitigating risks. As part of the Vantage Asset Management function, this role will participate and represent Operations for assigned network airports.
Travel required; must be able to travel internationally.
Key Responsibilities
AIRPORT SUPPORT
Pro-actively builds and maintains strong relationships with airport operational teams
Brings critical thinking and analysis to operational problems, working with the local team, and corporate office colleagues as appropriate, to generate and evaluate possible solutions, and implement the optimum one
Equips airport teams through coaching and provision of resources to develop and maintain operations documents that are clear and complete, featuring sound operational processes; facilitates such documents being available to network airports (e.g. Operations Manual, Security Plan)
Assists in reviewing annual business plans and budgets and supports the delivery of business plan objectives for network airports
Ensures follow-through on compliance or operations-optimization projects and initiatives, influencing their timely completion
NETWORK OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Promotes the sharing of network operational best practices by creating opportunities for dialogue (e.g. leading working groups or committees), and by supporting the development and implementation of network-wide operations training
Manages and enhances Vantage peer review program using network airport specialists; includes preparing summary reports with recommended actions and risk mitigation strategies
Maintains current knowledge and understanding of international acts and regulations related to aviation operations, including security, safety management, and aircraft fire fighting (e.g. Canadian Aviation Regulations, Canadian Aviation Security Regulations, ICAO and FAA regulations)
Researches and documents international best practices, innovative airport solutions and process improvements; topics areas include airside operations, terminal operations, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), wildlife management, security, and Safety Management Systems (SMS), including auditing and the development and execution of corrective action plans
RISK MANAGEMENT
Develops a regular reporting program on network operations risk, based on safety and security performance indicators
Participates in emergency planning and contingency support for table tops and live exercises
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Prepares input and provides expert review on detailed proposals related to business development and integration
Experience and Education
Minimum 5 years’ experience in airport operations, with an emphasis on regulations, safety, and team leadership
Comprehensive knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS)
Track record of preparing and implementing operational policies and plans (e.g. emergency plans, winter operations plans, safety and security plans)
Experience in an airside operations environment a strong asset
Quality assurance experience, and/or auditor certification an asset
University degree or college diploma in operations management or aviation-related accreditation preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered

Able to build collaborative relationships with a diverse group of people
Able to influence without direct authority
Demonstrated business acumen – able to interpret operational and business documents, and provide rigor in evaluating potential solutions
Self-starter who can work well with minimal supervision
Able to demonstrate strength and calm under pressure
Strong verbal and written communication skills
